OPEN STREET FORUM IN BREMEN
Foundation of advocacy for open-air performing arts in Europe - Bremen 18th / 19th August 2011

Which forms of organisation do we have in our countries, that can support us directly or represent our work? What kind of cooperation do we need on an European basis? How can we strengthen our position on a national and on an international level? What are the individual benefits of our network? These are questions to which all art operators attending the Bremen Festival "La Strada" will try to find some answers. Gabriele Koch, Art Director of festival and co-organizer of Open Street, gives her guidelines, in full respect of Open Street spirit, aiming to the foundation of a brand new European advocacy in favour of open air performing arts. Thu. 18th and Fri. 19th will be two intense full days of questions, solutions, proposals, new paths in a single and shared direction, trying to involve as many countries as possible on the way... the last two days of Forum, Sat. 20th and Sun 21st,indeed, will be dedicated to our common neverending "hunger" of good shows: thanks to the rich programme of Festival, our weekend will pleasantly run away between street shows, galas and, of course, the Saturday night Festival Party...the full list of appointments is available cliking on herebelow link.

OPEN STREET INTERNATIONAL SHOWCASE 2011 EDITION
The offical call for participation to 2011 edition is now available...

The coordination of Open Street Project informs that is now available the official participation call for the second edition of the Open Street International Showcase, programmed in Fermo and province (IT) from 13th to 16th October 2011, and opened to all European artists and companies. Also the Second edition of Open Showcase mantains its particular structure and its original procedure for participation: the artists will have the opportunity to be selected, by inserting a video of their shows, and be part of the official programme of Showcase (20 shows). These 20 companies will have all accommodation expenses covered and will obtain a refund for coverage of travel expenses, which is quite unusual in occasion of showcases, where artists usually have to pay all costs. Further 30 artists or companies will have the opportunity to participate to the Off section. In this case the coordination is able to offer special low-cost accommodation and meals solutions to all participants, as well as all free showcase structures and services. The "Art Direction" of showcase is indeed the whole group of European art directors willing to attend to showcase: they will take part the online selection of all participating video and will vote the more interesting shows, (not necessarily the "best" ones…), shared by dimensional category. The final rank of votes will determine the group of 20 shows of official programme. All info and documentation regarding registrration, rules for participation, adhesion for art operators etc. is available on website: www.open-street.eu

RESULTS ACHIEVED BY 1ST OPEN INTERNATIONAL SHOWCASE
Many companies selected in occasion of first OPEN INTERNATIONAL SHOWCASE:

Awaiting the 2011 edition of the Open International Showcase in Fermo (IT) we were wondering "how much" artists and companies have been able to obtain out of the 2010 edition, in terms of performances scheduled by art operators for the 2011 season. Talking to operators used to stroll Europe attending to international showcases, we were ready to be pessimistic: many of them told us of how little they were able to find even in occasion of huge showcases, and how they often returned home with maybe one / two good performances booked out of hundreds of proposals...Trying to find an answer, we thought to (another!) new initiative, something we believe was never been implemented before by any other showcase: the data collection of shows programmed for 2011 events by operators attended to 2010 showcase, and make this report public. The result is truly encouraging: 35 operators across Europe have programmed over 120 performances of European (and not only) solo artists or companies. The list of shows programmed thanks to the 1st Open International Showcase is available by clicking on below link. The data only include operators and artists who were present in Fermo, without taking in consideration the "online" showcase: the collection of over 250 videos often used by many operators to find new proposals to be programmed in their events. Out of it, thanks to the visibility of videos on Open Street website, we have info that also further companies were programmed for 2011 events. A good wish for the second edition!
